Birthday Ingrate

Here's a lovely email chain for you.

A few things to take into consideration while reading:

1). The person I am writing to in these emails happens to be D's friend who I used to date.
2). May 7th was his birthday.
3). I like the word "geezer."

Ha ha, Very nice! You're a fool.

Now, lest you think I've forgotten, I know it's your birthday in a few days. So, in case I forget then, Happy Birthday geezer.

I see that you're still in the habit of drinking coffee? I can't help but get a little teary-eyed knowing that I instilled that wonderous quality in you...

What are you talking about? My birthday was in April???

I cannot go a day w/o my starbucks coffee. I stopped drinking lattes...too expensive for my taste and not enough caffeine. And no, you did not teach it to me. The only thing you instilled in me was a thorn in my side and some gray hair.

Ha, Ha,

You know I suck about birthdays. That's why I emailed you last week and told you early. Plus, I was out of town for a conference, so I was busy as hell on Sunday.

I can't believe that my cute little email pissed you off so much.

--------

Whoa! So, what do you make of it?

Hmm seems kind of malicious on your part. Not kosher!

What's malicious? The emails or the fact that I'm now dating his friend?

I can see the latter ... but only if I look really closely.

So, is his birthday really in April? Or is it in May? Cause he says in that one email that his birthday is in April? That's all I can figure out. If his birthday is actually in April and you just told him in May, maybe it pissed him off. Although, that still seems strange. My DAD doesn't even remember my birthday. Some people just have a hard time remembering that kind of thing.

Thought from the wise Chosen: Why do you bother keeping in touch with him? What's the point?

Hi BMJ (your initials from here on out) - His birthday is in May, but he thought he'd be funny and say April, as if I had forgotten... which I had, but his sister emailed me with a reminder.

Wise Chosen - You have indeed earned your name. But, I do have good reason for remaining his friend. He's dug me out of a few holes and the like. On the other hand, he is an odd bird. Either way, it doesn't look like we'll be talking much anymore.

Wait, wait, What??

April or May?

Sounds like he's not digging you. I'm agreeing with the malicious intent.

You're being a lingering ex in those emails. No bueno.
